Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Illegal arms importation is one of the most pressing security challenges facing many regions of Nigeria, particularly in the northeastern states. Nguru Local Government Area in Yobe State has experienced significant security challenges, including insurgency, banditry, and armed robberies, often fueled by the availability of illegal weapons. This study aims to explore the impact of illegal arms importation on national security, focusing on Nguru LGA, and the broader implications for Yobe State and Nigeria as a whole.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
The influx of illegal arms into Nguru LGA has been linked to rising insecurity in the region, exacerbating violence, conflicts, and criminal activities.
